Use | Overview phosphodiesterases (PDEs) are a class of enzymes that hydrolyze the intracellular second messengers cyclic adenosine monophosphate (cAMP) and cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP), involved in a variety of signal transduction and physiological activities. PDEs is composed of 21 genes, which are divided into 11 families (PDE1 ~ 11) according to their sensitivity to inhibitors and amino acid sequence. The diversity of PDE family genes and their complex expression patterns suggest that different subtypes may have different pathological and physiological mechanisms. PDEs is involved in the occurrence and development of inflammation, asthma, depression and other diseases, and can be used as an important target for the treatment of various complex diseases. Therefore, the discovery of PDEs inhibitor lead compounds including synthetic and natural sources is the key to promote the development of new drugs for such inhibitors. |
